One of Freespeed’s best receivers, Thomas Gysin is looking forward to the birth of his second son not even a month from now. We’re looking forward with you Danger Mouse!
Thomas decided that practising and competing at a high level is not really compatible with having the way of a family life, he wants to have. So spectacular plays from our #19 (like the ones bellow) might not going to happen in 2015… But they’re definitely worth a watch!
Even though we wish you all the best… we still hope to see you back on the field!

Freespeed in Bologna – with 3 teams!
for the first time ever, Freespeed attended an international tournament with three teams at once! a young squad from the ‚one‘, the competitive open team, the second open team Free2speed and the Freespeed Ladies all drove those 8 hours to Bologna to enjoy a last tournament on grass as well as two last warm and sunny days this year.
All teams had a great time and were able to work with many new players on the field. but bologna is typically a tournament where the off-field action makes an important part: barbecue next to the field, ‚Giro‘ (a funny game that requires a ball, which seems for many players to be a very surprising – not to say disturbing – object at a frisbee tournament), Warmup in the gym, Sambuca shots after the last game, a blast at a rather minimalisticly set up party and much more…
Freespeed open wins silver at EUCF 2014!
Winning the silver medal at the XEUCF 2013 in Bordeaux was the biggest success in the Freespeed history. Winning it again in 2014 was probably even better!
Here’s a summary of the first day (all summaries taken from our fb-page)
„First day at EUCF 2014 was a success!
Freespeed won against Chevron Action Flash 15:14, against Flying Angels Bern 15:11 and against Prague devils 15:9. So we come out on top of one of the elite pools. But in the ‚League of Champions‘ that just means, that we will face other strong opponents tomorrow. The winner of Iznogood – Club Ultimate Noiséen and Heidees awaits us in the quarterfinal at 13.45.“
Here’s day two:
„Another successful day! Freespeed beat Heidees in the quarters after a hard fought game 15-14 to advance to semis. (nice writeup of the quarterfinals on Get Horizontal)
There, another classic against our appreciated rivals and neighbours Bad Skid was decided thanks to a strong second half and spectacular points of the fired up Speeders. (Again, a nice writeup)
Consequently, tomorrow Freespeed will play Clapham Ultimate in the final of the European Ultimate Club Finals for the second time in a row!“
And day three, the final game:
„In a hard fought final, Clapham Ultimate managed to beat us 15:12, to win their 3rd consecutive European Gold. Congratulations for the 5th title in this competition and thanks for an intense and very enjoyable game!
Despite the defeat and the feeling that the opponent maybe was vincible this day, only smililing Freespeed faces were seen after the game. With their second EUCF (after 2013) silver medal around the neck!
Great weekend – Great season finish!“
